Greetings

Greetings

I am pleased to announce that the 4th Joint Meeting of Veterinary Science in East Asia will be held on September 8th and 9th, 2024 at Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in Obihiro, Hokkaido, Japan. I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all of you.

The most important aim of this joint meeting is to provide graduate students and young researchers with presentation opportunities at international conference. I hope that many young researchers will join the meeting, make presentation, and discuss their research results.

A second important aim of the meeting is to contribute to the development of veterinary science in East Asia through the exchange of veterinary researchers from member countries. Currently, one of the major tasks of veterinary science is the control of infectious diseases in human and animals. In recent years, serious infectious diseases such as COVID-19 have spread rapidly and caused pandemics around the world. In addition, serious infectious diseases of animals such as foot-and-mouth disease, classical swine fever, African swine fever, and highly pathogenic avian influenza, have become problems in the livestock industry. Once these infectious diseases cross borders and invade, they spread rapidly, causing not only huge economic losses, but also greatly affecting the supply of animal protein to the public.

Therefore, the theme of the 4th Joint Meeting of Veterinary Science in East Asia is ā€œPrevention and Control of Transboundary Animal Diseases in East Asia". We will have symposiums on epidemic mechanisms, outbreak prevention measures and epidemic prevention measures related to transboundary infectious diseases. We hope that the conference will be academically meaningful by inviting prominent researchers and providing a place for researchers from the three countries to exchange information and present new findings.

I believe you can enjoy the cool climate, wide open space scenic view, and delicious food in Hokkaido.

See you soon in Obihiro!
